Is this different from Soft Focus?

Yes. Blur background only softens the existing background. Soft Focus is a separate creative look that also changes color and gently treats skin.

Can it fix an out-of-focus portrait?

No. Your subject keeps the detail already present in the original. This is background blur, not image sharpening or unblur.

Can I control the amount of blur?

This first version uses one automatic blur strength. Inspect the result before saving; manual masks, blur sliders and depth controls are not included.

What is free, and what needs Studio?

13 styles and tools include Standard saves, up to 2048px. You get 3 saves and 30 new previews per day, resetting at midnight UTC. Single-photo fine-tuning is included.
